Richard Helms retired from a two-decade career as a forensic psychologist in 2002, to take a position at a local college. He has been nominated three times for the PWA Shamus Award - twice for books in his Pat Gallegher series set in New Orleans, and most recently for Cordite Wine, the second book in his San Francisco-based Eamon Gold PI series. A gourmet cook, amateur astronomer, builder of guitars and dulcimers, and die-hard Carolina Panthers fan, Richard Helms lives in a small town outside Charlotte, NC.
